I UXed Myself
So I have been applying to UX jobs since August of 2022, I have had a few interviews but a lot of emails that simply say; “Thank you for applying but we are no longer looking to fill this position, please keep an eye on open positions and apply again in the future.” OR “After reviewing your portfolio, we have decided to move on with other candidates.”
After so many “No’s” a girl has to wonder, is it me? I decided to take a look at my portfolio through the lens of a UX Designer and see what was working and what needed a change. I did a lot of research into what other people’s sites looked like and took notes on what I wanted to add and what I wanted to toss out. First I needed to refresh my colors, they were a bit bland. I also added an illustrated self portrait to my homepage just to showcase my style and what I like to draw. Next came the portfolios and some site navigation issues. I needed to streamline and reorganize.
It was a great exercise to see my portfolio through new eyes and I must say looking back at my previous site compared to this one, there was definitely room for adjustments. I now feel like this site is more me.
So today I officially launch this new site and I am pretty pumped to see what people think! Next I will be focusing my UX eyes on my resume…. I’m coming for you pdf, look out!
